5 Heart Healthy Foods to Add to Your Diet Today

Here are five foods to include in your diet to promote heart health.

1. Banana – Good source of potassium to promote a lower blood pressure.
2. Fish – Contains omega 3’s to prevent arterial plaque rupture.
3. Olive oil – Contains heart healthy monounsaturated fat to reduce the risk or coronary heart disease.
4. Garlic – Contains allicin to raise HDL, lower LDL, lower homocysteine, and lower blood pressure.
5. Walnuts – Rich is essential fatty acids, healthy protein, fiber, and phytosterols (compounds to decrease absorption of dietary cholesterol).

  1. Olive oil both cuts bad LDL cholesterol and raises or keeps good HDL the same, improving your heart-saving HDL/LDL ratio, in contrast, oils such as corn, soya, bean, sunflower lower both good HDL and detrimental LDL

  2. I am very happy to post on this page. 17Aug2009 being the 1st and only prior post, tells me what we probably already know– it is hard to get people to pay attention, even to simple facts. Knowing I am probably preaching to the choir, I hope we can share some blog time and themes, being I am new here. It is a simple solution, but, it ties into virgin coconut oil (medium-chain fatty acids),getting sugar out of, or reduced in our diets, etc. I hope this will be the beginning of a blooming WP blog sharing….
